Dr. Delos "Jerry" Aumock, of Owego, NY, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015, at home surrounded by his family. Dr. Aumock was predeceased by his parents, Delos and Viola Aumock and his wife of 64 years, Wilma "Billie" Aumock. Jerry is survived by his daughter, Ashley Vockrodt; son, Christian (Mim) Aumock; granddaughter, Robyn (Thomas Graham) Vockrodt; grandson, Nicholas (Melissa Hough) ;Vockrodt ; sister, Iris Prahm ; extended family, Willow and Michael Fras and great grandchildren, Alexander and Maximilian Fras who affectionately referred to him as "Papa Bear". Dr. Aumock was born in Syracuse, NY on October 11, 1926. He grew up in Marcellus, NY until he moved with his family to Owego in the mid 1940's. Dr. Aumock attended Wesleyan University in Connecticut and The University of Buffalo School of Dentistry, where he carried the family dental tradition into the next generation. During an interim period in the Navy between undergraduate and dental schools, Dr. Aumock spent some time in St. Louis, Missouri, where he met Billie, his future wife, the love of his life, to whom he was married for 64 years. His hobbies and interests were diverse and included The Tri Cities Opera and The Ti-Ahwaga Players (of which he was a founding member), both of which he engaged in with intensity and passion. He was also involved in The Rotary Club and The Tioga County Council on the Arts as well as having an interest in photography. He was an avid and accomplished bowler and golfer, forming many lasting friendships over the years. While he loved his profession, if there was an avocation which most captured his inquisitive and adventurous spirit, it was his exploration of the world beyond his small town in upstate NY. He and Billie spent much of their life together learning about and experiencing sites and cultures in all corners of the earth. It was the greatest joy they shared together, and an inspiration for his family. Burial will be held privately at the Evergreen Cemetery. Owego, NY. There will be no calling hours. Instead of mourning his death, we invite anyone who would like to join us to celebrate his life with an informal get together at The Owego American Legion (263 Front St) on Saturday April 18th from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to The Ti-Ahwaga Players or The Tioga County Council on the Arts. Condolences may be made to the Aumock family at www.emfaheyfuneralhome.com.
