William “Boots” Eschler
William “Bill” Eschler, 55, of Owego, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Wilson Hospital. Bill was predeceased by his father, Richard Eschler, and brother-in-law, John Porcari. Bill is survived by his mother, Mary Rose Eschler; companion, JoAnn Salter; sons, Anthony and Ethan Eschler, Kevin (Rebecca) Salter, and Michael Salter II;; brothers and sisters, Richard (Andrea) Eschler, Catherine Eschler, Stephen (Kathy) Eschler, Tooney Eschler, Marita (James) Hoit, Ellen (Ronald) Pasto, Timothy (Marcia) Eschler, John (Gail) Eschler, and Eddie Wong; extended family, Ross Carter, Marion Ulrich, Cliffford Ulrich, Steven Ulrich, Rodney (Pam) Ulrich, Brenda (Doug) Dupuis, Julie (Frank) Crawford, Carol Ulrich, very special granddaughter, Mariah Lynn Gottlieb; many nieces, nephews, cousins and great nieces and nephews. Bill was a proud member of the Croton Hose Company #3 in the Flats, the VFW Post #1371, and St. Patrick’s Church. He was an avid outdoorsman at Charlie’s Safari who also enjoyed bowling. Bill was a “Flat Rat” through and through, with the motto “Flats against the world”. Bill was best described as loving, kind, silly Billy, thoughtful, caring, big-hearted, selfless, family-oriented, GREAT FATHER! Always there for everyone, the best BBQ chicken ever, the family poet, little league coach, Bobby Franz, Eddie Howard, once a flat rat, always a flat rat, 3’s clam bake and hose races, Sunday dinners, The Raiders, family Christmas caroling. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 23, 2012 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, 300 Main Street, Owego with Rev. William Moorby officiating. Family invites friends to call on Sunday, January 22, 2012 from 2 to 5 PM at Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Owego.
