Vernia M. Hurlburt, 56, of Owego, passed away on Sunday, June 20, 2010 at home surrounded by her loving family. Vernia was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Ruth Sweeney; brother, Harold Sweeney; and grandson, Timothy J. Maslin (TJ). Vernia is survived by her children, Bonnie (Tim) Maslin of Owego, and Wayne Hurlburt of Owego; grandchildren, Freedom, Timothy, Julia, Tristen and Tyler; step-grandchildren, Shauna and Tara; sisters and brothers, Charolette (Jack) Forsythe of Owego, Ann Cashio of Corning, Charles Sweeney of Corning, Alice (Roy) Hall of Candor, and James Sweeney of Corning; and ex-husband, Wayne Hurlburt, Sr. of Odgensburg. Vernia had a passion for her arts and crafts, her computer and her many trips to the casino. Vernia loved her angles and will be remembered as an Angel who took care of many people, always taking those in who had no where to go. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at 12:00 PM at Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Owego with Rev. Terry Steenburg, officiating. Family invites friends to call on Wednesday from 11 to 11:45 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
