Ruth J. Abbott

Ruth J. Abbott, 88, formerly of Etna, NY, passed away on July 6, 2010. Mrs. Abbott was predeceased by her husband, Theodore Abbott; and sister, Merle Zavaski.  She is survived by her daughters, Jeanne Nash, Etna, NY, Janet Abbott, Philadelphia, PA; four grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Lacouette, Ithaca, NY; one niece and one nephew. Mrs. Abbott was a bookkeeper for Cosentini’s Shoe Store in Ithaca, NY. For 25 years. Ruth was active as a Tompkins County 4-H Horse Show Leader.  Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made in Ruth J. Abbott’s memory to Beech Tree Care Center, 318 S. Albany St., Ithaca, NY 14850, where she was capably cared for during the last years of her life. Arrangements are by the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home.

Message: Please accept our condolences on the passing of Ruth.  She was a wonderful woman, and helped so many young people at 4-H and her love and knowledge of horses was second to none. She started the love affair between our daughter and horses that lasted a lifetime. She will be missed.
