Blinn, Ralph

Ralph A. Blinn

Ralph A. Blinn, 59.  On December 28, 2011 we lost our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and papa from heart complications due to end-stage renal failure.  Ralph was predeceased by his parents, Keith and Mary McNeil Blinn; and brother, Samuel Blinn.   Ralph is survived by his beloved wife Ila (Alexander) Blinn; sons, Patrick (Jennifer) Blinn of Germantown, MD, Mitchell Blinn of Newark Valley; daughters, Nikki (John) Hrustich of Owego, Kelly (Christopher) Gardner of Newark Valley; grandchildren, Sheridan & Samuel Blinn, John III “Jack” & Noah Hrustich, and Graciella & Makana Gardner; brother, Randy (Rose) Blinn of Candor; sisters, Keita Blinn of Roebling, NJ and Rita Blinn of Candor.  Ralph was loved by his in-laws, Charlotte and David Alexander of Berkshire; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ina (Roy) Wakeman of Candor, Terri (Greg Davis) Coulter of Endicott, Julie (Dustin) Sweet of Stanley, NC, and Michael (Arlene) Alexander of Barton; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends.  Ralph was a kind and loving man who never met anyone he couldn’t talk to.  His sense of humor was legendary.   He enjoyed mentoring and coaching kids of all ages.  “Papa Rouch” especially loved his grandchildren and they adored him just as much.  Due to his kidney disease, Ralph supported the National Kidney Foundation and participated in the U.S. Transplant Games several times, as he dearly loved to compete and win.  Ralph spent much of his career as a grocer and meat cutter.  Most recently, he found a new passion and became an associate broker at Century 21 Crown.  Ralph was a member of the Whittemore Hill United Methodist Church. He was also a lifetime member of the Candor Fire Department and a long time member of the Sons of the American Legion.  Ralph was a proud 1970 graduate of Candor High School.  Special thanks to Ralph’s friend and Doctor, Felix DeSio, and the dialysis and nursing staff at Robert Packer Hospital for their compassion, kindness and expert care.  Our appreciations to the Campville Fire and Ambulance Squad.    Our family would also like to thank his “Coffee Mates” at Sam’s Diner for always keeping his spirits up.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 137 Main Street, Candor with Pastor Mary Jean Simonin officiating.  Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery.  Family invites friends to call on Friday, December 30, 2011 from 5 to 8 PM, and Saturday, December 31, 2011 from 10 to 10:45 AM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Ralph’s name to The National Kidney Foundation.
