Mark E. Ward Sr. 54 of Owego, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday June 10, 2010. Mark was born to Francis and Arlene Ayers Ward. Mark was predeceased by his father Francis, his brother Joseph, and his stepfather Willis Catlin. He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years and best friend, Karen Bensley Ward, his children Joseph, Mark Jr., and Janet (Jim Wilson) Ward of Owego, two grandchildren, Olivia and Evan Ward, his mother Arlene Catlin, two sisters Marie Ward and Jennifer Ward Cron, sister-in-law Andrea and Ed Williams, his Uncle Floyd (Linda) Ayres, nieces and nephews, Willie Leach, Michelle Ward, Jessica Mihalov and Nick Cron, father-in-law Frank Bensley, mother-in-law Margaret Bensley Morris, brothers-in-law Frank Bensley Jr., David (Mo) Bensley, Roger (Debbie) Bensley, Fred (Lucille) Bensley, nieces and nephews Cindy (Jim) Motter, Dave, Bobbie Jo, Joe (Kristina), Brett, Shawn (Melissa), Adam, Derek (Erica), Jessica, Erica, Kari Bensley, and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces and nephews. Mark loved and enjoyed his family and many friends. He enjoyed gardening and tinkering with his right-hand-man Pedro Amaro Santiago, his garage buddies Doug Worthing and crew, Scotty Smith and pals, his VFW family and many other new and old friends. Mark loved racing. He spent many years on Worthing Brother's racing team. He passed his love of motorsports on to his sons, through many microd racing years. He enjoyed speedway racing and Nascar. His hobbies included hunting, fixing up old cars, especially MGBs, hanging out in garages, playing guitar, listening to music, gardening and being around his loved ones. As a very handy man, he was considered a jack of all trades. Mark was previously employed by Hadco/Sanmina, Corp., Republic Steele, E.E. Root & Sons, and Tioga Casting Facilities, where he met many wonderful friends. Mark was a member and past President, of the Owego Fire Department Company #3. He was a "flat rat" for life. He was a member of the VFW Post 1371 Men's Auxiliary, holding different positions on the board and loved participating in events with the VFW. Mark was a wonderful, caring husband and an amazing dad. He was a great provider and loved his family more than anything. Mark missed his father and brother more than he could put into words, and we know he is now at peace, reunited with them. He will be missed dearly by all of his loved ones. Please, pay it forward in Marks memory. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 14, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the Estey, Munore & Fahey funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY. The Rev. Lenny Jackson will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Please make donations in honor of Mark E.
