Kathryn Guinan

Kathryn Guinan, 90, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2011. Kathryn was born February 21, 1921 in Carbondale, PA to the late Charles and Lillian (Fay) Guinan.  She moved to Owego in 1948 and worked for the Owego School District, the Owego Telephone Company, and retired in 1984 from IBM Corp., Owego, after 29 years of service.  Ms. Guinan was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, IBM Quarter Century Club, and a volunteer for the Tioga County Rural Ministry.  Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her stepmother, Susie (Gavin) Guinan; sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and James Loftus; uncle and aunt, Girard and Rita Gavin; cousin, Stephen Gavin.  She is survived by her niece and her husband, Mary and Ray Arthur, Carbondale, PA; great-niece, Christine Morris;  cousins, Toni Gavin, Patrick, Timothy and Daniel Gavin, Sue and Keith Ballard, Christopher and Sara Ballard, Sheridan Ballard; Bob and Kathy McCone, Erin and Terry Fitzgibbons, Emma and Sean Fitzgibbons, Kellie and Patrick McClellan, Gavin and Aidan McClennan, Megan and Jeff Kolacinski, Grace, Ava and Aubrey Kolacinski, Peggy Ann Rich, Arthur and Maria O’Callaghan, Declan O’Callagham, Dick and Shari Rich, Richard, Joseph and Anne Rich.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 23, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, 300 Main St., Owego with the Rev. William Moorby, officiating.  Burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego, NY.  Memorial contributions may be made in Kathryn’s memory to the Owego/Fire Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 22, Owego, NY   13827 or the Tioga County Rural Ministry, 143 North Avenue, Owego, NY.

Message:  I was very sorry to hear of Kathryn's passing. I enjoyed Kathryn as a neighbor for several years while living on Temple Street. I continued to run into her at the Minstry and about town. She was a wonderful lady who also showed her great appreciation for others in her life. God Bless her.
