Frank L. Lepkowski
Frank L. Lepkowski, 83, passed away peacefully, Thursday, January 26, 2012 at home. He was predeceased by his son, Mark Lepkowski; by his parents Theodore and Anastasia Lepkowski, by four brothers, Stanley, Theodore, Bernard and Joseph Lepkowski; and sisters Theodora Kuchinski and Sr. Mary Lauretta Lepkowski. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joanne Rys Lepkowski; and by five children and their spouses: Francis and Ann Lepkowski, of Royal Oak, MI, Gregory and Linda Lepkowski, of San Diego, CA; Suzanne and Joseph Delmar, of Owego, Elizabeth and Jeffrey Davis, of Owego, and Matthew Lepkowski of Candor. He is survived as well by nine grandchildren: Karina and Frank Lepkowski; Anna Lepkowski; Jonathan, Michael, and Emily Davis; and Theresa, Mark and James Lepkowski; step-grandchildren, Avery, Keelin, and Cameron Greene. He is also survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Anne and Joseph Arcidi, of Concord, MA, and Theresa and Donald Paul, of Pittsburgh, PA, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Frank was born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania, where he was an avid fisherman. He graduated from Cathedral Preparatory High School in Erie PA, and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Gannon College in Erie, PA (now Gannon University) and a Master of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering from Syracuse University. Frank began his professional career as an industrial engineer with General Electric. He joined IBM in Owego in 1966, and retired in 1989. He lectured for many years at St. Patrick’s Church, Owego, and loved hiking, traveling and camping around the United States and Europe. He loved polka music and enjoyed aspects of Polish culture and language. His passion for gardening may be seen in the well-tended and beautiful gardens surrounding the Lepkowski home. Inside the family home his passion for cooking was a joy to all who ate at his table. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Church with the Rev. William Moorby, officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday Evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego. Memorial contributions may be made in Frank’s memory to the Tioga County Rural Ministry, 143 North Ave., Owego, NY 13827 or Hospice at Lourdes, 4102 Old Vestal Road, Vestal, NY 13850. The family is deeply grateful to Lourdes Hospice for the exceptionally compassionate care they provided to Frank.
