Darlene Fabi Hayes, 67, of Owego, passed away at home on Sunday, June 6, 2010 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous four and a half year battle with lung cancer. Darlene was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Marie Oliver, and first husband, Richard Fabi. Darlene is survived by her husband, Ted Hayes; children, Nichole (Roger Martin) Fabi of Owego, Antonette (Clarence McCarter) Fabi of Owego, Jenelle Fabi of Holiday, FL, Sherette (Lynn) Parker of Vestal; step-children, Chris Hayes of Cranberry, PA, and Tamara Hayes-Blakeman, PA; grandchildren, Gina, Harli, Gio, Victoria and Taelor; special people in Darlene’s life, Bonnie, Marie, Vera, Weezie, Doris and Helen; and her special four legged friends, Uncle Pat, Sasha and Katie. Darlene was a hairdresser in Owego for over 30 years. After retiring from hairdressing, she went on the road with her husband Ted as a cross country truck driver. Darlene loved to be social, always talking at length to everyone, especially those of you in our community restaurants, ice cream parlors and grocery stores. She was especially known for her appearance, always making sure her hair and makeup was done perfectly, even when she was so sick. She was a member of the Owego VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 12:00 PM at Estey, Munroe & Fahey Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Owego, with burial to follow in Tioga Cemetery. Family invites friends to call on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 form 5 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Special “Thanks” to the Lourdes Hospice Nurses Heather and Jaynine.
